Hijas de Maria: This group meets on the third Sundays after the 11:30 AM Mass in the rectory. It is open to girls from age 7 to 16, encouraging them to model their lives on the example of the Mother of God. Los Jóvenes: This is an organization of Spanish youth that meets every Thursday at 6:30 PM in the Ministry Center (downstairs). Weekly meetings foster a deeper understanding of our Catholic faith and encourage the teens to live their faith as a witness to their peers. Adults are needed to help with supervision and teaching. PACC (People Accepting Coming Changes): This is a Rite of Passage program for junior high students. Candidates are paired with adult mentors who share their faith and parish involvement. Classes are monthly on Sundays from 7:00 – 8:15 PM. Adults are needed to assist in mentoring youth and helping them understand and integrate their faith into the changes in their lives. Faithful Friends Youth Group: This is an opportunity for our parish youth to come together to be involved in the activities of the Church. It is open to Junior High and High School aged youth of our parish. They share socially as well as contribute their time and talent to the efforts of our parish. Young Neighbors in Action (YNIA): This is a service oriented hands-on summer week project sponsored by the Center for Ministry Development. Our parish team organizes in September and meets monthly. In addition, adults are needed to help chaperone and with fundraising. Plans are in place for the third week of July for the youth to travel to and work in Buffalo, NY. Teens need to complete at least a freshman year before the trip; adults are also welcome to help with supervision. To volunteer, contact Antonia Martinez at 508-765-3704.
Scouting: Our parish is sponsor for Cub Pack 140 and Boy Scout Troop 160. They meet in the Ministry Center on Wednesday evenings. These activities are open to boys from age 5 to 18. Trees of Memories: Initiated in 2009, this activity offers the opportunity to remember a loved one by creating an angel ornament to decorate the trees that grace our sanctuary through the winter holiday season. An additional ornament may also be made and laminated to be brought home and placed on a tree there. Assistants are needed to help understand the activity and assist with stickers and other decorations as well as with the laminating. Help is also needed with refreshments. Dismas House: Dismas House is named for the thief who hung on the cross with Jesus and repented of his sins. This house was founded by Catholics in Worcester to assist those leaving incarceration and returning to life in the public sector. Once a month a meal is organized and either cooked there or delivered by parishioners who dine with the residents and share their life’s stories. A coordinator is needed to organize a monthly effort from the English speaking community. Knights of Columbus: Founded by the Venerable Michael McGivney in New Haven, CT in the late 19th Century this organization is a worldwide fraternity that promotes Catholicism, defends the unborn, and performs charitable works unequaled in our times. Parish Musical / Variety Show: All the world’s a stage and we are all players on it. But there are those who love to ham it up, and others of us who love to watch. In 2015, we hope to offer a parish show. Needed will be those who love to sing, dance and act along with stagehands, musicians and others to help produce and promote with advertising, building sets and securing donations. Finance Committee: This committee meets variously throughout the year to assist the pastor in administering our parish finances and property. This committee is always interested in people with a financial background or expertise to assist in their effort. To volunteer, contact Father Peter at 508-765-3701.
Liturgy Commission: This committee will meet various times during the year to review and advise the pastor on our parish liturgy. Members will be required to attend training apart from committee meetings to have the necessary background for the work of this commission to enhance the celebration of liturgy in our parish. With the implementation of the revisions of the Third Edition of the Roman Missal, and our adjusting to unfamiliar worship spaces, there is a lot of work for this commission.
