Sacred Heart Flea Market

On Mondays from 9 AM to 1 PM and Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 1 PM, the market is open in the basement of Sacred Heart Parish School. Volunteers are needed to help sort, repair, arrange and sell items each week. Donations are received on Mondays and there is availability for pick up also. Please do not leave items at the school door unattended. For more information, please contact the Ministry Center at  (508) 765-3701.

1/20 Club

This is an ongoing fundraiser in each of our previous parishes. We have five clubs. There are 120 members to each club. For twenty weeks, there is a drawing for each club for $20. That means every week for twenty weeks, five people win back their initial investment. Once winners, they are still eligible for the successive week’s drawings and for the final big prize drawings at the end of the club. Weekly drawings are held monthly and are announced in the bulletin. The final drawings take place at a meal to be announced. For more information, please contact the Ministry Center at  (508) 765-3701.

Golf Tournament

On October 3rd, we held our second Golf Outing at Heritage Country Club in Charlton. The committee is already discussing the idea of next year’s event for October 1, 2016. Helpers are needed to request donations, sign up golfers, sit during the day at event greens, etc. For more information, please contact the Ministry Center at (508) 765-3701.

LaSalle Hall Rental

Next to Notre Dame Church is the parish hall built many years ago. Used previously for sports and teen dances, it has been transformed in recent years to a rental facility for community organizations, family parties, and fundraisers.

The current operation has an agreement with Hearthstone Catering of Sturbridge to provide catering services for a variety of functions, in particular for hosting mercy meals following funerals. We are also taking bookings for private and community functions throughout the year. Priority is given to parish events.

Volunteers are needed in teams of three and four members to set tables and serve food for families who arrange for gatherings after funerals. There is some assistance to be provided in clearing tables and light clean up once the family leaves.

Other volunteers can help by setting for larger parties, usually on the weekends, that are sometimes weddings or quinceañeras. These volunteers help from the placing of linens and tableware to the final touches of centerpieces and favors. An artistic eye or flair is an added bonus to this task. Set up usually can occur on Wednesday or Thursday during the day depending on other rentals for the space and the size of the event that is being set up for.

Individuals who are licensed as bartenders can help to work functions that occur predominately on weekends. There is a modest pay plus tips for this position.
