Christ Renews His Parish is a retreat designed to help us renew our Christian faith by bringing members of our community together in Christ. It is a break from your busy schedule of personal, business and family obligations so that you can refresh yourself spiritually and renew your heart by meeting with and listening to the experiences of other men or women from our parish in an informal and relaxed environment of reflection, fellowship, and fun. The emphasis during the weekend is on small group participation. Everyone is free to share as much or as little as they feel comfortable doing. Discussion and sharing is enjoyed by all participants. After the weekend, the opportunity to continue faith formation exists with an option to continue to meet and grow as a spiritual community and eventually share what was experienced with others.

Mission Statements

Christ Renews His Parish TM (CRHP) is a personal and parish spiritual renewal process. As Catholics, we are called to witness to one another the amazing things God has done for us. The CRHP process allows us to do just that - take a break from our busy lives, share our faith with others, and get to know God through his works.

CRHP has impacted over 1,400 parishes throughout the United States. Today, CRHP is the primary program for both personal and parish spiritual renewal in over 100 Catholic dioceses and 40 states across America.

Since 1969, Christ Renews His Parish has been promoting parish renewal by inviting individual parishioners to deepen their relationship with Christ as they commit themselves through prayer, devotion to Sacred Scripture and involvement in their parish. Founded by a parish priest in Ohio it has found a home in over 1200 parishes in 35 dioceses and on five continents. It has been recommended by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Office of Evangelization. Saint John Paul II Parish is the first parish in Massachusetts and the only parish outside of Connecticut in New England. It began with four men who made the retreat with Father Peter Joyce in Newtown, CT in March of 2012. In August of 2012, a traveling team from Cottleville, MO came to our parish to begin the experience for women here. Those who have been part of this renewal are now preparing to be a traveling team to other parishes in our diocese who are interested. We have already scheduled two retreats in another parish in our diocese, have a different parish getting ready, and others who are interested in more information.

There are four parts to the renewal process that is CRHP:

First is to make the retreat weekend. It is thirty hours out of one’s life that will change your relationship with Christ and our parish. Retreats are limited to the first 20 enrolled. The retreat takes place on parish property, provides the opportunity for confession, Mass, private and communal prayer in the context of several witnesses to lead one to renewal.

The second step is to commit to a team that participates in weekly formation sessions to study Scripture, recognize one’s journey and story of faith, and build community as brothers and sisters in the Lord.

The third phase is to offer the retreat to other parishioners. As enjoyable as the retreat is, every member to a person has shared that offering the retreat is a more meaningful and renewing experience of their trust in and love of the Lord.

The final part is to integrate and involve oneself in the activity and life of our parish. The renewal of our parish occurs by those who have fulfilled the previous parts and then commit their time and talent to a ministry or ministries in the life of our parish.
